try again

Hey friends!

It has been a hot minute since I last chatted on here. I got a sinus infection and it had me feeling awful. I still feel a little sick but I’ve been resting in the ways I could. One of them being this blog.

I am about a week away from my concert in Canton on November 22nd! I’m so excited to share my music with y’all. It’s going to be a super lowkey event but fun! Pull up for the vibes.

Since Sunday, I’ve done a lot. I started a mural at Manila Mart on Buford Highway! I haven’t had a chance to work on it since Monday but I’m excited to get back to work on it. It features Manny Pacquiao, Lea Salonga, a Kalinga warrior, jeepneys, harana, etc. I am drawing from my experience in the Philippines when I was 12. That time feels so long ago but also just like yesterday. Those two years shaped me more than I could’ve ever imagined. The language, the food, the people. I love my people.

I also love it here in America. I know that’s a very odd opinion to have right now but I think progress is happening. The fight is ongoing and we aren’t backing down. Even on a small scale, I see the world shifting. The way I watch my students interact or witness my coworkers go through situations, it feels as if there is a collective agreement that change needs to start happening.

With risk, comes great reward or great failure. With the reward, enjoy it. With the failure, just try again. Try until you get where you want to go. Now, don’t try the same. Try a different way. If we try the same, we’ll get the same result. So, try again, but better.

Easier said than done.

But sometimes we have to say things first and then take action.

Peace and Love,

Perlizbeth
