where the wind blows
Happy November!
I love the cold months of the year. Being able to bundle up is such a sweet feeling to me. There’s something different about being able to warm yourself up from the cold versus blasting the AC when it’s hot outside.
I had the pleasure of teaching a convention for Atlanta Dance Central this weekend. The students were absolutely fabulous. Thank you, Ms. Charlotte, for having me! It was an honor to get to know the kids and see their talent in person. I love working with students I’ve never met before. It’s a wonderful event to bring a new energy to their space but equally exciting for me because I get to be inspired by their skill and personality.
Something we talked about during their “Lunch with the Pros” was this idea of the language in saying “get to” versus “have to”. I was talking about how I get to wake up every morning and do what I love. The opposite being waking up every morning and having to do something. My phone background has been this quote for a couple months “As long as God still wakes you up, He has a plan for you”. I fully believe that. I’m grateful every morning I get to wake up and I get to do exactly what I’ve chosen to do which also happens to be what I love to do. Anything could happen to stop me from doing that. So, when I get to, it’s an absolute joy. It is a privilege. I’m so grateful for it.
I love being a creative. Being able to make something out of nothing. It truly is magical. Andrew, Izzy, and I went to Northern China Eatery on the Beltline last night to see his murals and I loved seeing Izzy’s reaction. Not just in her enjoying the murals but her reaction to the food and the people behind the restaurant itself. It’s amazing to see something from it’s very beginning. I met the owners when I first started at Blooms on my first day. This was before the space was being constructed. I had the pleasure of helping Andrew work on some of the murals. At the soft opening, among the influencers, the food was amazing and the vibes were high. Seeing it on a normal day, with so many people having a fabulous time, it’s almost impossible to imagine what it was like at the start. Being able to look back and reminisce helps us to be grateful for the present and where we are now.
All things are created from absolute nothing. The fact that us humans are able to produce original work (however seemingly recycled) is a superpower.
I’m grateful to create even if it sucks. Even if I’m hard on myself. Even if no one enjoys it. Even if it goes nowhere, does nothing, gets zero likes on TikTok, no views on YouTube.
Creation is a powerful skill.
Being able to express myself brings me so much joy.
I am thankful each day I get to wake up and do just that.
Peace and Love,
Perlizbeth
